What is a director service address?
Every director, company secretary, LLP member and person with significant control must give Companies House a service address — sometimes called a correspondence address. This is the address where official communications intended for them personally are sent, and it appears on the public register.
It is separate from the company's registered office and separate from the director's usual residential address, which Companies House keeps on a private part of the record.
If a director gives their home address as their service address, that home address becomes publicly searchable. A director service address replaces it on the public record — which is why the service exists.

If your specific need is to remove your home address from the Companies House public register, you need a director service address from a Companies House–authorised provider (an HMRC-supervised Trust or Company Service Provider). That is not something we offer, and we would rather tell you plainly than sell you a product that will not solve it.
How to change a director service address
- 1Obtain a valid service address
It must be a real, physical address, and you need permission from whoever controls it.
- 2File form CH01 at Companies House
Use Companies House WebFiling to change a director's details, including their service address. There is no fee and it is usually accepted the same working day.
- 3Check the public record
Once accepted, confirm the register shows the new service address. Note that a previously published home address remains on historic filings unless a separate suppression application is made.
